SIGGRAPH Cape Town Chapter invites you to:

“Create without Limits” with Preymaker, Sunrise and Simulon

Join us for an evening of insightful discussion, drinks, and snacks!

The visual effects and animation landscape is changing faster than ever, shaped by real-time tools, AI-assisted workflows, and increasingly global productions. This SIGGRAPH Cape Town session brings together industry professionals working at the forefront of these shifts, sharing practical insights from real projects and pipelines.

Across three talks, we will explore how hybrid workflows are redefining the role of the artist, how large-scale productions are managed across continents and massive datasets, and how real-time animation is bridging the gap between creative direction and technical execution. From emerging platforms and pipeline design to award-winning animation work, the evening offers a grounded look at where our industry is heading and how artists and studios can adapt.

Peter Uitenweerde will discuss how Preymaker incorporated AI to facilitate agility during production.
How they use proprietary technologies, tools and workflows to facilitate agility and enable creative directors to iterate without it affecting the schedule negatively.
On a more creative level, he will showcase how “Kinder” was a multi-media project in a sense that combined a wide variety of techniques, including live action, CG, miniatures, virtual sets, generative AI, etc

The Future Is Hybrid

The Future Is Hybrid explores the changing relationship between creators and machines as VFX workflows become more real-time, assistive, and context-aware. Cutting through hype, it offers a practical peek at hybrid workflows where humans set intention and constraints while systems handle complexity – and how creative identity shifts as legacy technical steps fade and the craft moves toward directing systems, coherence, and taste.

Speaker:
